Ok, since I've decided I really like this ComicSpace thing, I should update my profile and be more forthcoming. So here goes...
ABOUT ME I am a college student currently finishing my second bachelor's degree and working nights at a local hospital. I am one semester away from completing a Graphic Design degree at: I hope to do more cartooning and comics work very soon. I have completed a very disappointing number of comics projects, and have a few unfinished ones sitting around that I sometimes pick at. I have never been published, unless you count the 24-page issue that was printed at my school using art dept funds as the culmination of a Sequential Art class that I took. I will be posting that issue online sometime in the near future and will link to it here when it is up. My current semester has me in a creative writing class that will hopefully help me write with more confidence and skill. My artistic endeavors are to study and become proficient at all skills required in making comics, i.e. Writing, Drawing, Lettering, and Coloring. I am also trying to learn both traditional and computer methods, hoping to foster a wide variety of skill sets. My Graphic Design degree is actually split between computer graphic design and fine art classes. For instance, I have taken 4 drawing classes (including figure drawing), a watercolor class, and also several classes in Typography, 2D and 3D design, Logo design, Photoshop & Illustrator, Illustration, 2 Creative Writing classes, etc. Since I am not a naturally inclined artist or writer, I find it a slow and difficult process. Although I think I have progressed quite a bit since starting my formal education, which is my only sign of hope. I am also a member of the Michigan Comics Network which is a loose affiliation of Michigan cartoonist-types ranging anywhere from professional to novice to just fans and everyone in between. It is probably one of the things that keeps me focused in the face of crippling doubts and massive writer/artist block. It is good for loosening me up, especially the comics jams that we do every month. I don't get a chance to attend nearly as often as I would like. Anyone in the Michigan area that is interested, please check out the site. It is open for anyone to attend. My current comics projects include two short pieces for publication in the proposed MCN Anthology titled ‘The Hand Book’ And roughly 30+ pages that I would like to finish up and post on Webcomics Nation as a sort of test. If I can get the hang of that, I will start trying my hand at some new webcomics in the near future, just as a sort of laboratory for my skills. I am planning a website as soon as I have enough of an excuse to showcase my work with any sort of personal pride. I am also kicking around some other ideas that I don’t want to make public for fear of sounding stupid. I will post some comics as soon as it is available and as soon as I am finished with some of the current pages. Anyone who reads this is welcomed to put in a friend request, I would love to meet more comics people. SPECIAL TREAT And just because the IMG tag works now: Here's Nancy and Sluggo!
